The first magic arm I ever bought wasn’t good. It couldn’t hold anything. It would always drop. andMy camera would not mount well onto it. My negative experience with magic arms quickly tarnished my opinion of them. Because of this, they became all I thought were bad regardless of their price. For a while, I didn’t even use them because of that experience. But, I was wrong.

Traditional Uses

MagicThe arms can be used to do many different things. A variety of accessory cameras are some of its most commonly used uses. This includes wireless video feed systems, external monitors, LED lights, andYou can attach almost anything to it. The articulating arms enable you to place these accessories wherever it is convenient. These accessories are built to withstand heavy use due to their sturdy construction. andAs long as you are able to keep your items secure, that is.

Non-Traditional Uses

Because magic arms typically feature an ultra-versatile ¼ twenty-thread mount, they can secure almost anything with that mount. One of my favorite non-traditional usages that I’ve seen is to use the magic arm to mount a small, wide-angle B-camera, conveniently rigged onto your A-camera to grab an additional shot and angle.

For example, let’s say you’re filming a feature or short on a super short schedule with a limited budget. A scene may require two camera coverage. You would use your A-cam to capture the main angle. andThe main focal point of the shot should be you. A small B-cam can be attached directly to your main camera, with a wide angle lens. This will allow you to capture additional shots. It’s basically a 2-for-1 deal.

Now that we’ve captured the essence of what we can use magic arms for, let’s take a look at a few options on the market today andEach has its own benefits
